“Aim at heaven and you will get Earth ‘thrown in’; aim at Earth and you will get neither”
C.S Lewis
Dear Friend,
The other day I had an interesting interaction with multiple senior maintenance fellows of Hillsdale College. Upon further inspection, it was actually rather ordinary. Yet it will be shared all the same. It went something like this:
During a lunch break after a tiresome morning, I found myself among five experienced tradesmen. We were eagerly awaiting a hopeful promise of pizza from an Anglican priest. Across from me sat the oldest of them all. Who was by far most anxious to fill the lingering silence with conversation. He did so by promptly asking if I went to school. Answering in the negative, and briefly explaining my aspirations; the gentleman on my left chimed in. He was an old army infantryman who was born and raised in the great state of Michigan. And who immediately expressed admiration for a desire to serve.
“So who’s the boss-man here” I inquired after a brief silence. The guy to my right spoke up. “Well I’m no fan of titles, but I am the boss”. And this was the interesting part. That was exactly what a fan of titles would say.
Anyways, this here dialogue is vague and directionless. So, I dedicate it to you Earth-Aimers; don’t be vague and directionless.
